Friends,

Today and every day we honor all the fallen heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. We live freely thanks to them.

Here in Coastal Virginia, we are acutely aware of the significance Memorial Day holds. Today, I’m remembering my USNA 1997 classmates, LT Jonas Panik, LT Thomas Adams, CAPT Franklin Hooks, SGT Steve Morin, and LT Michael McGreevy and keeping their loved ones in my thoughts and prayers.

As we reflect on the service and sacrifice of our military members and families, may we also recommit ourselves to supporting the families who have lost loved ones in service to our country.

I fought to repeal an unjust tax hike on Gold Star families, and I’m committed to working in Congress to ensure that our servicemembers and their families receive the benefits they have earned.

Our work is far from over. For the sake of all those who have served and made the ultimate sacrifice, we must continue to work across party lines to do what’s right for our veterans and their families during these exceptionally difficult times.

I will never stop fighting for you,

Elaine Luria
