Friend —

 

Memorial Day is about acknowledging the past, celebrating the courage, and honoring the sacrifice of every American who gave their life for our country, our democracy, and our nation’s future.

 

We owe a debt of gratitude for each life given in defense of the freedoms that belong to every American and have a sacred responsibility to do something more with the hope and possibility their selflessness preserves.

 

The ultimate sacrifice is not something that can ever be repaid, but the spirit and determination in defense of our values and each other can and must be carried forward with their memory through our actions. 

 

To fight every day for a better Wisconsin, a better America, and a better tomorrow is the highest tribute we can pay to all those who have fallen in service of our country.

 

I’m proud to make that pledge, and I hope you’ll join me.
