Dear John,
“Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you: Jesus Christ and the American Soldier. One died for your soul, the other died for your freedom.”
These are the profound words inscribed on the face of a very special veterans memorial in Monument, Colorado.
A privately funded memorial planned and built over the course of two years by sixteen-year-old Michael Carson as an Eagle Scout project to honor two generations of veterans in his family.
A memorial Michael described upon completion as “a dream come true” is now being described as “a wretched dumpster fire” by a notorious anti-faith group attempting to get the memorial torn down.
Yes, you read that right. A wretched dumpster fire.
Watch our First Liberty Live! video below—shot on-location at the memorial—for more background on this despicable attack and how we’re fighting back:
Obviously, we refuse to stand for such an outrageous disgrace of our nation’s veterans.
These are our nation’s heroes—men and women who answered the call to defend and protect, to risk their lives for the sake of our freedom.
They deserve the highest honor, respect, and recognition for their service and sacrifice.
Calling displays of such respect and gratitude a “wretched dumpster fire” just because they include religious references is the highest form of dishonor and disgrace I can imagine.
Well I assure you now—this attack will fail. We will not let rogue anti-faith groups get away with dishonoring our nation’s courageous military heroes.
So, what can you do?
We’ve saved numerous memorials under similar attack from being torn down—including at the Supreme Court with the Bladensburg Veterans Memorial.
But we need YOUR SUPPORT to make sure this memorial is saved as well.
Please donate to First Liberty today, to help us fight religious hostility as we champion TRUE equality that doesn’t leave out religious Americans.
I can’t think of many better ways to celebrate Memorial Day than by joining other patriots across the nation to save a sixteen-year-old’s tender tribute to our nation’s fallen heroes.
Together, with your faithful support, we will defeat this disgraceful attack and preserve the honor of those who made possible the freedoms we enjoy today—Jesus Christ and the American Soldier.
Wishing you a blessed Memorial Day,
Kelly
