Friends,
Let’s be clear: My job as a Congresswoman is to turn your cries for justice and bold change into legislation that transforms lives and livelihoods for the better.
What my job is not is to put the interests of corporations over those of working people and families.
I’m a refugee and a first-generation college student, who has been burdened with student loan debt, worked as a cashier, and advocated for a better country for all as an organizer. I understand the needs of the people, because I have experienced what it’s like to go paycheck to paycheck or without running water.
I work for you, which is why I will always answer to you — never corporate PACs.
But unlike so many politicians in our broken campaign finance system, I can’t just call up a corporate donor when our campaign is falling behind on a fundraising goal. With one day and $23,027 to go, I’m reaching out to you, personally, because I know I can count on you to chip in toward our team’s end-of-month fundraising goal before our deadline tomorrow:
So please, give $5 or whatever you can right now so we can reach our goal and continue our work to put people first.
Thank you.
In solidarity,
Ilhan Omar
