Team,
Truth, transparency, and accountability are central pillars of our democracy. That’s why NewDems led the charge to establish a commission to investigate what happened on and leading up to the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.
Even though the legislation was written and introduced on a bipartisan basis, the vast majority of Republicans still opposed it — and the bill to establish this commission failed to advance in the Senate on Friday. After years of rubber-stamping the Trump agenda, Congressional Republicans are back to being the party of NO.
If we can’t agree on getting to the bottom of what happened on January 6…what can we agree on?
Look, this is a fundamental question of good governance and accountability. We are proud, fierce Democrats, but not every problem can (or should) be solved with a partisan fight at the ballot box.
Outside of Washington, Americans are a whole lot more united than cable news would have us believe. We want the same things: Good-paying jobs, equal opportunities for our kids, a fair shot to earn a good life.
NewDems are the ones who get us to YES. Ahead of our end-of-month deadline, say you stand with NewDem Members in their fight to build fairer, more transparent, more responsive governance by chipping in $5 or more now.
