We’ve sent you a couple emails now about our May goal, but wanted to provide a deeper breakdown as to why this goal is so important.
The Goal: $15,000 raised by grassroots donors by Monday, May 31 at 11:59pm PT.
The Reason: We need to grow our resources and build our movement to unseat corrupt politicians backed by big money in 2022. We need to flip seats in the House and Senate to bring even more lawmakers to Washington who will fight for working people. In short: we need to start this work now, and we can’t afford to fall short of any fundraising goals this year.
The Barrier: When the rich and powerful built our current political system, they made rules that let money influence policies more than the people. That’s why Katie Porter and our other candidates don’t accept corporate PAC money—so they can continue to represent working families without outside influence. But it also means they receive less money to run their campaigns—and to political insiders, that’s a weakness.
