Just a couple days ago, the filibuster allowed Republicans to block a commission investigating the violent January 6th insurrection on Capitol Hill.
It was a disheartening reminder that ending the filibuster, which gives Senate Republicans an effective veto over everything we’re fighting for, is one of the many daunting challenges we face right now as a country. But I believe in the power of our grassroots movement to achieve even the hardest victories.

Passing the For the People Act to protect democracy, raising the minimum wage, enacting Medicare for All – all of these fights involve enormous uphill battles and an upending of the status quo.
But difficult odds have never stopped Ro and our movement from advocating and organizing for what’s right. And our unwillingness to ever give up ground is how we’ve achieved major victories like defeating President Trump, passing a historic COVID-19 relief bill, and so much more.
Systemic change doesn’t happen overnight. The most important thing we can do when the going gets tough is to tackle our next achievable goal and stay focused.
