Early this morning, Republicans in the Texas Senate rammed through a final version of their racist, anti-democracy voter suppression bill.
The Texas House is expected to vote on it later today. It’s the last step before it would go to Greg Abbott, so this is our last chance to try to block it. Can you help us?
This has been a sham process, and the true goal has always been a power grab that keeps Republicans in office by making it harder for Democrats to vote. This bill would attack early voting and vote-by-mail and ends 24-hour voting and drive-thru voting, which millions of voters used to vote in 2020.
Republicans wrote their voter suppression bill behind closed doors.
They suspended their rules so lawmakers couldn’t read the bill.
They blocked reporters from the chamber and hid amendments from the public.
They voted on a Sunday morning to restrict voting on Sundays.
Our activism has forced legislators to pump the brakes already in this process, but we have to make one final push to stop the bill once and for all.
