Here's What I've Been Reading and Thinking About This Week
I hope you enjoy these photos that are a snippet from my last few weeks.

I've had the privilege of calling the beautiful country of Mexico home for almost a year now.  I have met wonderful people, both local and expat, begun learning a new language (although not as well as I had hoped), exploring another culture, and engrossing myself in Mexican life.

I ended up here because a friend who understood my wandering ways recommended it as a place to wait out the Covid lockdowns that had stranded me.

It was an experience I'll never forget and a piece of my heart will always remain here with the kind, warm, generous Mexican people who have treated me with love and respect. I've also made some non-Mexican friends who I am quite sure are my friends for life. And living by the ocean was even more wonderful than I ever imagined.

I'm bringing back Talavera pottery, some silver jewelry, a few new tattoos, and innumerable experiences.

As much as I've loved it here, I'm looking forward to heading back to the United States and seeing the people I love. I have stops to make, friends to visit (some for the first time), and things to see on my route.

On to the next adventure!

Oh...wait...Covid isn't of natural origin?

I hope you're sitting down, because it turns out the King of Covid, Dr. Anthony "Masks-Don't-Work-Wait-Now-Wear-Two-Of-Them" Fauci says that he "he is "not convinced" COVID-19 developed naturally." (source)

Now investigations are being reopened into the possibility that the virus was a "lab leak."

President Biden has ordered an immediate investigation into what was once called a "fringe conspiracy theory" that got countless people thrown off social media platforms.

We here at The OP are all quite confident anyone who lost their social media platforms over espousing that possibility will promptly have their accounts restored after public apologies.
STUFF I READ THIS WEEK
Here are some of the articles I've read this week.

Are you familiar with the crazy brand of economics we've got going on right now? Check out this article.

What Is Modern Monetary Theory?

And here's a good video about the economy, too.

Preparing for Inflation and Rising Prices

Anyone who has followed my website for a while knows that I'm a big fan of violence dynamics author Rory Miller. In fact, one of Rory's books, Meditations on Violence, was required reading to attend Selco and Toby's survival course in Croatia.

So with great interest, I read my friend Greg Ellifritz's take on one of the philosophies Rory espouses.

The "Educational Beatdown"

Speaking of educational beatdowns, a buddy brought this article to my attention and I can't possibly think of a worse idea.

There's an app based on rewarding vigilantism. What could possibly go wrong?

What I'm Doing to Prep This Week
This week was all about packing and getting ready to hit the road. The last doctor visit, got the dog's health records in order, and got a roof rack installed on my Jeep.

Then I loaded up my Jeep. A friend said "Why the heck are you loading your vehicle a week early?" Well, thank goodness I did because there was a MASSIVE issue with the roof rack when I drove 5 miles to the grocery store that could have been catastrophic on the road. It's now getting rectified and I will still have another chance to test it out before I'm somewhere in the middle of the desert with my belongings scattering amongst the cacti.

And if that's not a prepping lesson, I don't know what is.

MEMORIAL DAY SEED SALE
I think we can all agree our forefathers would be shocked at what's happened recently in our country. While you might not have as much ability to influence decisions at the political level, you DO have a responsibility to make the wisest decisions for yourself and your family, making little choices that will help honor our forefather's sacrifice and their love of liberty this Memorial Day.

Growing food is one of the best ways to do that! This SEED SALE will help.
