John,

Every Memorial Day weekend, we recognize and remember those servicemembers who gave the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation. These heroic Americans deserve our eternal respect and gratitude.

Yet, Tom McClintock, who wouldn't hesitate for a second to use our troops for a photo op, once claimed our "all volunteer military has been a dismal failure," and lamented a "disconcerting decrease in the intelligenceā€ of military recruits.

Really? Tom has brought no short supply of shame to our district, but this is next level. His insults are far beneath the dignity of our district and of any sitting member of Congress.

Since his election to Congress, Tom has continued to fail our troops and their families.

He voted against funding our military and against pay raises for our troops. He voted against health care for 9/11 first responders three times, voted for a budget that left our VA underfunded by more than a billion dollars, and opposed proposals to increase funding for veterans' medical, mental health, and military sexual assault prevention services.

There's simply no excuse for his dismal record when it comes to supporting servicemembers and veterans.

So this Memorial Day weekend, do what Tom McClintock will not. Say thank you to any veterans you know, remember and honor fallen service members, and appreciate the freedoms and rights we have due to their selfless dedication and commitment to our country.

Thanks,

Brynne Kennedy
