Over a year ago, Governors were left on our own to tackle the most significant public health crisis in decades. Today, we are at a critical turning point in defeating this pandemic, and I can’t overstate how fortunate Minnesotans are to have my friend and colleague Tim Walz leading the way.

Those of us who listened to the health experts from the beginning knew we would have to fill the leadership void left by President Trump. Governor Walz stepped up without hesitation, and it shows -- almost 5 million vaccine doses have been administered to Minnesotans. But just like the Republican lawmakers fighting me in Michigan, Minnesota Republicans have attacked him relentlessly for it.

Friends, as we turn the corner on our recovery, it’s never been more important for those of us who believe in science and putting people before politics to stand together. That’s why I’m reaching out personally to ask:

Governor Walz already has two opponents, including one who is such a prolific spreader of COVID-19 misinformation that he has been banned from TikTok. The My Pillow guy, one of Donald Trump’s closest allies responsible for pushing the Big Lie, is still thinking about throwing his hat in the ring as well.

The stakes are too high to take anything for granted. We need to make sure Governor Walz’s campaign has the resources they need to defend our shared values so we can all work together to keep our country on the path to recovery.
