Dear John,

We are excited to announce that after 8 years with our fiscal sponsor
Movement Strategy Center, Climate Justice Alliance is officially a 501(c)3
organization!

This is a big achievement and we want to show appreciation to everybody who
has supported us along the way, especially all of our member organizations
who keep CJA true to it's values and principles! We are trying our best,
staying steady and mindful for a healthy and sustainable alliance.

We can't wait to dive into all of the opportunities that this is going to
open up for our alliance, and we will continue to share them with you along
the way!

CHANGE THE STORY: CJA MEMBERS SHARE STORIES AND PRACTICES OF
TRANSFORMATION

In our ongoing work to shift culture, CJA members recently joined a panel
discussion to share innovative approaches to fighting the bad and building
the new. Hosted by Natalia Linares of the New Economy Coalition, Michelle
Mascarenhas-Swan of Movement Generation; Doria Robinson of Cooperation
Richmond & Urban Tilth; and Najari Smith of Cooperation Richmond & Rich
City Rides share how they are organizing against extractive economic
systems and creating new and just models of regenerative economic
development for frontline communities. Watch the panel here [4]. We hope it
will inspire you as much as it did us!

"BICYCLES KIND OF SAVED MY LIFE." NAJARI SMITH SPINS A COMMUNITY
FORWARD.

[4] [5]On a related note, check out a feature story on member organization
Rich City Rides, a cooperative bike shop creating opportunities to improve
health and economics by promoting cycling as a social, sustainable and
green mode of transportation in Richmond, California!

“We share the stress, we share the profits, we share the challenges, and
we share the victories, all evenly,” says Mr. Smith, who wants to help
incubate other cooperative businesses in the area. And, as always, he hopes
to bring even more Richmond residents into the biking fold. Read the full
story here! [5]

FIGHT THE BAD: FANG COLLECTIVE WINS IMPORTANT STRUGGLE AGAINST ICE

The FANG Collective is happy to announce that ICE will be cancelling all
contracts with Bristol County, Massachusetts. This includes their 287(g)
contract which trains deputies to collaborate with ICE and perform
immigration agent duties, and their IGSA contract which turned the Bristol
County House of Corrections into an ICE detention center. Read the full
story here! [6]

THIS MONTH, CJA MEMBERS WORKED TIRELESSLY TO...

CJA JOINS 160+ ORGANIZATIONS, CALLS FOR BIGGER AND BOLDER RECOVERY PLAN
FROM CONGRESS AND THE BIDEN ADMINISTRATION

Climate Justice Alliance and nearly 200 other organizations—representing
millions of members from unions and workers, climate and racial justice
organizations—just called on Congress to send bold legislation to Biden
by August to secure a Jobs & Recovery Plan that will actually meet the
moment. Lowering investments to cater to Republicans just for the sake of
appearing bi-partisan isn't going to get the job done at this critical
moment in time. READ THE NEW YORK TIMES LETTER [9] we signed that ran this
week for more information and learn more about the THRIVE Act that would
put 15 million people back to work and address the climate justice
emergency we currently face here. [10]

Red Road to DC- A Totem Pole Journey for Sacred Places and Cultural
Protection

Indigenous Environmental Network (IEN) and Climate Justice Alliance
celebrates and supports the Read Road to DC of the Lummi Nation
[11]transporting a 24-foot totem pole to Washington, DC on a journey to
build support for the sovereign right of Tribal nations to shape local and
federal solutions, as well as protection of sacred places. IEN will be
working with the Lummi on lifting up the THRIVE Act that has provisions for
strengthening tribal sovereignty and implementing federal policy
recognizing Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC). _Image credit Alan

CJA MEMBERS & PARTNERS RELEASE HOODWINKED IN THE HOTHOUSE V3!

Check out this popular education toolkit [12]: Hoodwinked in the Hothouse
(version 3), to learn more about resistant movements organizing against
false solutions to climate change. We hope you'll review it and share it
with your networks and communities.

BUILD THE NEW: CELEBRATING MAY DAY AND WORKER COOPERATIVES WITH
