We want to lay out two big reasons why a donation from you this month is so important to our success:

Incumbent electeds like Jamaal are often the most vulnerable in their first term (and our opponents know this). When 2022 rolls around, the political establishment and our opponents will be spending BIG — all so they can halt our grassroots, people-powered momentum. Fortunately, we have the power of people on our side; now, we just have to remain competitive financially. That’s why we need to prepare early rather than risk being behind when it matters most.
The work that we do transcends politics, campaigns, and election years. We don’t believe that there’s ever an “off-year” for the work we do — and ever since Jamaal was sworn into Congress this past January, we’ve been organizing for NY-16 and our progressive agenda. Contributions from folks like you ensure that Jamaal can spend his time legislating, not fundraising, and that our important work can continue, even when there isn’t a race.

These two reasons — among so many others — are why it’s so critical for our movement to have strong fundraising, John.

Now, normally, the end of the month is when we see an increase in our fundraising, and we work that into our monthly budget. But this month, our fundraising is actually trending lower, which we didn’t expect. Our current downturn may impact our future plans unless we see an increase in fundraising soon.
