John,

Everyone loves these stories...they simply never get old.

An enthusiastic man in Birmingham, England approached a 40 Days for Life prayer warrior, shaking his hand and thanking him profusely.

A few years earlier, the man and his wife nearly had an abortion...until a 40 Days for Life participant gave them a leaflet that led the couple to choose life.

The excited dad introduced his daughter. Seeing the little girl and her mother sparked the volunteer's memory.

"The day you came here, it was pouring rain, wasn't it?" he asked.

The dad nodded.

"And...your appointment was the next day or something, but you got lost, ended up here, and saw us?"

"Yes."

"I remember," said the volunteer. "I was there."

Since 2007, we've confirmed more than 16,000 babies saved from abortion during a 40 Days for Life campaign.

How many more chose life due to your presence...but never said a word?

The Birmingham volunteer's encounter with the family he spared from abortion shows why there's reason to believe those 16,000 saved lives are just the tip of the iceberg!

Baltimore, Maryland

After several campaigns praying the 7:00 a.m. hour before work every day, Ginni admitted wondering whether her prayers made a difference.

"One morning, I asked the Lord if there was any point to my being there," she said. "And, if so, would He please show me?"

Before the hour was over, a woman approached Ginni, showing her a photo of her grandson.

"Her daughter came to the abortion center five times. But someone was always there praying, and she couldn't go through with it," Ginni said.

"She wanted to thank me for being there. The granny was oh-so-happy with that decision!!!"

Tenjo, Colombia

In a previous campaign, the team in Tenjo repeatedly encountered an abortion-minded mother, who was accompanied by another woman.

Though they prayed together, the mom never committed to life.

Recently, the mom's companion returned to the vigil site with her eyes full of tears. "We saved that baby. His name is Samuel!"

Now Cain talked with Abel his brother; and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him. Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is Abel your brother?” He said, “I do not know. Am I my brother’s keeper?” And He said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground.”

—Genesis 4:8-10

Father, help us to embrace the fact that we are our “brother’s keeper.” When, due to selfish motives, we try to cast off this responsibility please call to us to account. We would be pleasing to you and to our “brother.” Through the help and grace of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
