Republican politicians and right-wing billionaires have a game plan: they’re trying to divide us every way they can. They know that if they can divide us, they can keep getting away with attacking our democracy and exploiting our workers.

So here’s my game plan: we’ve got to stick together.

It’s key that we stand with each other. It’s key that we care about each other, and elect leaders who care, too. That’s the only way we’re going to shift the balance of power in this country.

My grandfather was a United Steelworker. He always stood with his brothers and sisters in the labor movement -- no matter how they made their living.

Years after he had retired, he went to the grocery store and saw the meatpackers were on strike. He refused to cross the picket line.

He knew that all workers are bound in the same struggle -- and that when we support each other, we win. I’ve never forgotten this lesson, and I carry it with me every day, whether I’m in Youngstown or Washington.
