Freedom to Worship Act Goes to the Governor's Desk!

This week, Texas legislators passed HB 1239, the Freedom to Worship Act and it is now headed to Gov. Greg Abbott’s desk, who has already indicated his support for it. HB 1239 makes it clear that government agencies or officials cannot shut down places of worship in Texas. Many Texas government officials abused their power by limiting or shutting down churches as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic while treating secular businesses, such as liquor stores, differently and allowing them to remain open. Texas legislators have pushed back on this overreach. The passage of the Freedom to Worship Act restrains rogue government officials who have placed burdens on the free exercise of religion in violation of our religious freedom rights that are guaranteed by our laws and Constitution.

Texas Values to Speak at Heartbeat Celebration Today

Last week we celebrated Gov. Abbott’s signing of the Texas Heartbeat Act (SB8), which is being called the strongest pro-life bill in Texas and which the Biden Administration called the “the most restrictive measure yet in the nation.”   The Texas Heartbeat Act will ensure the protection of the youngest preborn Texans. The law will go into effect on September 1, 2021.

Today, Saturday, May 29, from 11 am-1 pm, Texas Values is joining Students for Life for a continued celebration of the passage of the Texas Heartbeat Act.  Mary Elizabeth Castle of Texas Values will join Sen. Bryan Hughes, Abby Johnson, Texas Right to Life, the Justice Foundation, Texas Alliance for Life, and others at the State Capitol.
If you’d like to join virtually, Texas Values will be live-streaming the event on our Facebook Page. Click the link below to watch...

Pro-Life Champion Abby Johnson on Texas Values Report

Johnson is the founder of And Then There Were None, a ministry designed to assist abortion clinic workers in transitioning out of the industry. To date, the ministry has helped over 430 workers leave the abortion industry. You don’t want to miss hearing from Abby Johnson. Listen here.
