This is exactly what we were scared of happening, John.
Ever since the Supreme Court agreed to hear an abortion case that has the potential to overturn Roe v. Wade, a record number of states like Texas have been passing dangerous legislation preparing to outlaw abortion.
Republicans are launching a full blown plan to allow the government to control pregnant people's bodies and the passing of these laws is only used to prosecute women — especially now that they've been emboldened by the ultra-conservative Supreme Court that Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell stole. Fighting back against anti-choice Republicans in Texas and across the country is going to take millions of Women’s Marchers organizing together to make sure our rights are protected on the local and federal level.
Here’s the reality we face:
We know that Women’s Marchers are powerful when we organize, march, and mobilize together to protect our rights and ensure the future we deserve. History has taught us that there’s nothing more powerful than women organizing together for their feminist values. We’ve done it time after time and that’s how we defeated Trump.
But we also know that the other side is organizing in a big way to pass dangerous anti-abortion legislation across the country. Here’s an example of a Texas group trying to outlaw abortion in as many cities as possible, claiming they are creating "sanctuary cities for the unborn."
Seriously, you have to see it to believe it:
That’s why we need to prepare and fight harder than ever to mobilize our volunteer and organizing teams against these slate of attacks on our reproductive freedom.
We need a massive show of resistance from across the country to make sure the Supreme Court protects Roe v. Wade, the Biden-Harris Administration protects the right to an abortion under law, and that we kick out every Republican in office who threatens our rights. It’s going to take significant resources and funding to build a campaign like this and we can’t pull this off without your help, John.
We will not quit now or turn back because we know everything is at stake. We must push forward.
