Friend,
California is experiencing an extreme water crisis -- and megacorporations like Nestlé have made the drought crisis even worse by siphoning away the little water the state has.
This is why five years ago, we launched a huge campaign to stop Nestlé Waters North America, now BlueTriton Brands, from stealing the state’s water.
We've made great strides, and now California's water resources board has announced that BlueTriton must stop siphoning millions of gallons from the San Bernardino National Forest.(1)
But now BlueTriton is requesting a re-upping of Nestle's permit from the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) so it can overrule the state water board and continue taking water from the San Bernardino National Forest.(2)
We can’t let them get away with it, which is why we’re ramping up our campaign to demand that the USFS deny the permit. And we need your help.
Taking on megacorporations isn’t easy -- and it isn’t cheap. Will you chip in today to fuel the effort to ensure that Nestlé and BlueTriton don't steal California's water?
From 2018 to 2020 alone, while Californians were forced to restrict their water use, Nestlé stole an astonishing 173 million gallons of water.
And now BlueTriton has continued that tradition by drawing upwards of 25 times as much water than what was legal.
For no reason other than to line their pockets. Despicable.
That’s why we’ve organized, and even sued, to protect California’s water. But these megacorporations have fought back tooth and nail.
BlueTriton is on the verge of convincing the U.S. Forest Service to allow it to siphon away millions of gallons of the state’s water. If the company is successful, it would be a devastating blow to California’s water supply.
With the climate crisis -- and California’s drought -- only getting worse, our campaign to protect the state’s water couldn’t be more urgent.
We’re partnering with Story of Stuff and going straight to the top to demand that the U.S. Forest Service deny BlueTriton a new permit.
Will you rush a donation today to help power our campaign to pressure the U.S. Forest Service to deny BlueTriton Brands a new water permit and make Nestlé clean up its mess?
Yours in the fight for our environment,
Irene, along with Angela, Annie, Caitlin, Deepthi, Jay, Lindsay, LisaMarie, Molly, Raquel, and Scottie (the Courage team)
