Chairman's Update

This is a weekly update from the Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman
Lawrence Tabas filling you in on what our statewide party leaders are up to,
along with relevant news pertaining to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Chairman's Message

Fellow Pennsylvanians,

We spent months on concentrated outreach and messaging, and it paid off big!
We set a record Republican turnout in the 2021 primary and got more republican
voters to the polls than any other judicial primary in the last 20 years -- at
least! Almost a million Republican voters showed up to help us take the crown
off Tom Wolf’s head, and I am confident that our elected representatives will
be able to work quickly to reopen our economy, get our kids back to school, and
permanently end Governor Wolf's destructive lockdown.

I want to thank each and every voter like you who turned out and made this
victory possible, and I hope that we will continue to have your support as we
begin our campaign to elect a Republican Governor and Senator next year!

Sincerely,

Lawrence J. Tabas
Chairman, Republican Party of Pennsylvania

Newly empowered, Pa. GOP lawmakers move to end parts of Wolf’s coronavirus
disaster order
May 25, 2021 | PennLive

Pennsylvania voters made it clear that they’ve rejected Wolf’s failed COVID-19
policies last week, and now Republican lawmakers are taking action to limit
Wolf’s power. A state House committee has voted to terminate parts of Governor
Wolf’s coronavirus disaster declaration, including the portions which allow
Wolf to close businesses and institute capacity restrictions. Wolf called the
vote “a discouraging development” and continues to claim that he still has the
authority to institute “mitigation measures” to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Pa. Republican lawmakers threaten to impeach Philly officials for counting
undated mail ballots
May 28, 2021 | Philadelphia Inquirer

Top Republicans in the Pennsylvania legislature are threatening to impeach
Philadelphia election officials if they stand by their decision to count
undated mail ballots that were submitted during the May 18th elections. The PA
Supreme Court ruled last year that voters must sign and date envelopes when
returning their mail ballots, but Philadelphia election officials have ignored
that ruling and decided to count the undated ballots regardless of the court’s
decision.

Pennsylvania Speaker of the House calls for Bureau of Election Audits
May 24, 2021 | ABC News

Speaker of the House Bryan Cutler has introduced legislation to establish a
state Bureau of Election Audits under the state’s Auditor General’s office. The
Bureau would conduct audits of each election in the Commonwealth to confirm the
results and ensure that Pennsylvania’s elections are free from fraud. It would
also create a corrective plan of action for any errors discovered in the audit.
