Dem AGs rally behind the reversal of Trump’s life-threatening Title X gag rule.
Friend, the Biden-Harris administration is undoing Trump’s harmful Title X gag rule, which threatened the reproductive health of more than 1 million people – and a coalition of 23 Democratic Attorneys General are rallying behind this life-saving policy change.
The Title X program – which funds family planning services, access to contraception, and critical health screenings – lost more than 1,200 providers after Trump’s gag rule was ordered. That loss hit uninsured individuals, BIPOC, and low-income folks hard, cutting off access to essential health services.
When Trump first issued the Title X gag rule in 2019, 21 Dem AGs sued his Department of Health and Human Services and won preliminary injunctions from multiple federal judges.
Now that the Biden-Harris administration is reversing Trump’s order, our nation is back on track to provide quality, affordable healthcare to its people. This is a huge step in removing barriers to quality care for all in our communities, and Dem AGs couldn’t be more relieved.
But their work is far from over. Right now, Mississippi is pushing a 15-week abortion ban in the Supreme Court as a direct challenge to Roe v. Wade. If the 18 GOP AGs backing this case win, abortion could be abolished nationwide.
