Sean Perryman For Virginia

Friend,

During the debate Tuesday night, we talked about campaign finance reform. I want to share an important lesson from that conversation with you.

But first, I have to remind you that Election Day is just 11 days away. Can you rush a donation of $3 right now to help us meet our goal before the election? »

11 days until the election

Many don’t know this, but Virginia is the Wild West of campaign finance rules. We’re just one of four states where there are no limits on much money a single individual or corporation can contribute to a campaign. Our publicly-regulated utility, Dominion Energy, has shoveled millions of dollars into campaigns over the years so they can control legislative outcomes on energy policy.

These rules (or really lack of rules) have created a situation where running for office is about ambition rather than mission.

In the race for Lt. Governor, we have folks who are running for two offices at the same time and writing themselves six-figure checks.

You shouldn’t have to have generational wealth or connections to rich donors in order to run for office and advocate for your community. The rules we have now make it almost impossible for working-class people to be competitive in our elections.

I’m proud that our campaign had more small-dollar donations in the first quarter than any other campaign. We don’t accept money from corporations or Dominion Energy. We rely on small donations of $10, $20, or $30 a piece from regular people like you. That ensures that our campaign is driven by our mission: creating a government and economy that works for all of us rather than the powerful few.

Can you take a moment to donate $3 towards our fight for campaign finance in Virginia? It’s crucial that we finally end the domination of big money in our politics, and our campaign is fighting to get it done »
