Washington, DC - OCA-Asian Pacific American Advocates applauds the Executive Order which reinvigorates the White House Initiative on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and PacificIslanders. OCA also extends a special congratulations to Krystal Ka’ai, who will be transitioning from her leadership position with CAPAC to the Initiative as the new Executive Director.
This executive order also reaffirms the Biden-Harris Administration’s continued support and affirmation of AANHPI communities across the country. Signing the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Law into action, investing in critical research and the use of appropriate data disaggregation to delineate the unique needs of ethnicities and populations within our community, and expanding diversity beyond representation of AAPIs in the Administration are some of the measures that this EO has stipulated.
“We congratulate Krystal in her new position as the Executive Director of WHIAANHPI” says Linda Ng, National President of OCA. “The previous administration did not provide much support, adequate resources and funding, nor use rhetoric that uplifted and supported our communities. OCA is looking forward to these wonderful changes, and will continue to build our relationship with the White House, the Administration, and members of Congress to ensure progress is being made for our communities”
If you, your family members, someone you know, or community members have experienced xenophobia, discrimination, or harassment, please report the incident using our hate crime/incident reporting tool at www.aapihatecrimes.org.
OCA – Asian Pacific American Advocates is a national social justice organization of community advocates dedicated to improving the social, political, and economic well-being of Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs).
