Dear friend --
It is essential that our economic recovery supports small businesses and working families -- not massive corporations. In my role as Chairwoman of the House Small Business Committee and a senior member of the House Financial Services Committee, I am fighting to ensure COVID relief gets to you.
To that end, we held two key hearings this week:
In our hearing with the Small Business Administration on Wednesday, I made it clear that an equitable recovery must prioritize those who’ve been hit hardest by the pandemic. Over the past year, we’ve allocated more than $1 trillion to small businesses -- and I’ve worked hard to ensure equity in the rollout.
We also met with the CEOs of 7 megabanks yesterday to hold them accountable. I made it clear that their hoarding of wealth is unacceptable, and that they must continue to offer recovery loans to small businesses. I also went after their enormous CEO pay disparity, because every employee deserves a living wage and benefits.
In both of these hearings -- and beyond -- I am fighting for working families and small businesses by taking on powerful special interests that don’t work for you. I was elected to serve you, and I am honored to bring your voice to Congress.
Thank you,
Nydia
