Here in Florida, our Republican Governor Ron DeSantis just signed a bill into law that would purge people from our voter rolls and restrict the number of people who can vote by mail. 

This is part of a nationwide push by Republicans to try to rig elections back in their favor after young people, people of color, and Americans from all walks of life turned out in record numbers to help Democrats win.

This isn’t just about Democrats winning: our very democracy hangs in the balance. Between redistricting, gerrymandering, reducing access to voting by mail, overzealous voter ID laws, and even attempts to overturn free and fair elections, these attacks on our democracy cannot go unchallenged. 

The data tells us that the more restrictive a state’s voting laws, the lower the voter turnout is in that state — it’s that simple. Ahead of the 2022 midterms, we have to fight back against these attempts to suppress the vote.
