I almost can't believe it, John.

This morning, Senate Republicans used the filibuster to quash the January 6th Commission to investigate the facts of the Capitol insurrection.

Before I get into my thoughts on this, we need to be very clear about facts:

What happened on January 6th was an attempt to overthrow our democracy and overturn the results of a free and fair election. Spurred on by Trump, rioters wearing military gear and sporting symbols of far-right militias descended on the Capitol and used makeshift battering rams to break windows and doors and breach the building. Their attack led to multiple deaths -- including law enforcement on the scene.

That is what happened. And in the aftermath of January 6th, Mitch McConnell even proclaimed that we will not "bow to lawlessness or intimidation by thugs and mobs." Kevin McCarthy said Donald Trump "bore responsibility for this attack" and initially supported an investigation to get to the bottom of what happened.

And yet, with our democracy and national security on the line, Republicans in Washington put political motivations and, frankly, their fear of Donald Trump ahead of our national interests. It's cowardly, it's undemocratic, and there must be a full investigation.

I’m asking for an immediate grassroots response to send a message to the GOP that we will stand up to their shameful attacks on our democracy. If you can, chip in $3 to protect our majority from Trump’s allies in Congress.
