Just a few minutes ago, the U.S. Senate failed to approve a bipartisan commission to investigate the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on January 6th.

The vote was 54 to 35. But even though a bipartisan majority — including six Republicans — voted in favor of the commission, it failed.

Last week, a bipartisan majority in the House — including 35 Republicans — voted for the commission.

This is a failure of democracy.

We have to double down on everything we are doing. We have to organize, communicate, and build the grassroots movement we need to uphold our democracy. That should have started with this commission. We need to fully understand what occurred on January 6th to make sure that it never happens again.
