John —
As the American Jobs Plan continues to be debated in Congress, we released our priorities for what needs to be included. Here are just some of the climate measures our country needs in this infrastructure package to protect our communities and jumpstart our transition to a clean energy economy:
*
A
clean
electricity
standard
that
requires
80
percent
clean
energy
by
2030
and
100
percent
by
2035,
coupled
with
a
decade-long
platform
for
clean
energy
tax
credits
and
policies
to
electrify
our
economy.
*
Robust
funding
to
transition
freight
and
public
transit
fleets
to
zero-emission
vehicles
and
install
a
national
network
of
charging
infrastructure,
among
other
surface
transportation
policies.
*
A
focus
on
ensuring
that
funding
intentionally
addresses
long-standing
injustices
and
invests
in
communities
disproportionately
impacted
by
pollution.
Our country is at a crossroads, and we need to take opportunities like the American Jobs Plan and push for climate action and a new clean energy economy. Will you chip in to support the leaders in SEEC who are advocating for bold climate policies? We need your support to show Congress that there is grassroots public support behind these policies. DONATE $20.22 [[link removed]]This won’t be easy. The negotiations over the package are still ongoing, and no one knows what will end up in the final bill. There is reporting that a deal might mean cutting key climate measures such as:
*
Ending
fossil
fuel
subsidies
*
$200
billion
to
retrofit
buildings
and
homes
for
better
energy
efficiency
*
500,000
new
electric
vehicle
stations
*
Additional
funding
for
climate
resilience
Those cuts would be disastrous for our country and our environment. Our SEEC leaders are still fighting. Will you contribute today so they know you support their fight to keep key climate policies in the bill? [[link removed]]
