The Week in Review

Happy Friday!

This past week, the House was out of session, but continued to hold committee hearings and meetings. The border crisis is ongoing, inflation is hitting consumers hard, and emerging evidence suggests we may be closer to discovering the origin of COVID-19. However, my Democrat colleagues chose to spend the week tiptoeing around these issues, per usual, to talk about confronting white supremacy. Regardless, I used my time in committee to highlight our responsibility to address the issues Americans care about. Check out my newsletter below to see what I have been working on.

Border Trip to Yuma

Despite the Biden Administration’s failure to acknowledge the border crisis, chaos at our southern border is continuing to grow. Last month, 178,000 encounters were recorded, with many individuals coming from South America and Eastern Europe. Border security is national security and the reckless policies of President Biden enables illicit drugs and individuals on terrorist watchlists to pour in. Click on the photo below to see my recent border trip to Yuma, AZ, where I surveyed unfinished portions of the border wall.

House Oversight Committee

The House Oversight Committee Subcommittee on Civil Rights and Civil Liberties convened for a hearing titled, “Confronting Violent White Supremacy: Examining the Rise of Militia Extremism.” I exposed the hypocrisy of the Democrats who have held five hearings on the subject but refuse to discuss the violence carried out by Antifa or BLM.  The bottom line is, all violence is wrong and should be dealt with accordingly.  Click on the photo below to watch my opening statement:

Origin of COVID-19

During my House Oversight Committee Subcommittee hearing, I called on the committee to investigate the connection between the Wuhan Institute of Virology and the COVID-19 outbreak. The outbreak impacted every single aspect of our lives for the past year. The American people deserve answers. Click on the photo below to hear my request:

 Veterans Affairs Committee Member Day

The House Veterans Affairs Committee held a bipartisan member day hearing for non-committee members to discuss veterans issues that are important to their districts. I spoke about my new bill, the Veterans Health Care Freedom Act. This legislation will allow veterans access to primary, specialty, and mental care at non-VA facilities. Tele-Town Hall

On Thursday, I hosted my monthly telephone townhall and answered questions from several constituents. It is an honor to be your Representative for Arizona’s Fighting Fifth District, and I will always fight to ensure your voice is heard in the halls of Congress. If you were unable to attend and would like to in the future, please follow my Facebook page for updates on the next one. Click here to go to my Facebook page.

What's the BIGGS Idea Podcast

This week, I had the privilege to discuss Critical Race Theory with American author, mathematician, and political commentator Dr. James Lindsay. We spoke about the impact of critical race theory on society and its utility as a tool of the Left. Check out the podcast by clicking the photo below:
