Friend,

I wanted to send you a quick update:

Just now, Mitch McConnell blocked a bill that would've created a bipartisan commission to investigate the insurrection at the Capitol on January 6. To be honest, I am incredulous. Despite bipartisan outrage the day of and days immediately after the insurrection, many Republicans have changed their tune and stopped this bipartisan commission in its tracks. That makes me even more committed than ever to expanding our Senate majority next year -- but we are up against a well-funded Republican machine that is taking its cues from Donald Trump.

Donate today to Green Mountain PAC's "Expand the Senate Majority Fund." Your grassroots donation will support Democratic incumbents and challengers so we can expand the Democratic Senate majority in 2022 and be in a better position to pass common sense legislation, including a bipartisan commission to investigate the January 6th insurrection.

Subject: Mitch McConnell opposes a bipartisan probe into January 6th

Friend,

Last week, with bipartisan support, the House passed a bill to create a bipartisan commission to probe and investigate January's insurrection at the Capitol.

Now, Mitch McConnell is vocally opposing it, putting new pressure on other Republicans in the Senate to also vote against it.

Senator McConnell and his party have not only cynically abdicated any responsibility for what happened on that day but are now actively standing in the way of a bipartisan investigation that would review the events of that fateful day, the steps that led up to it, and recommendations for the future.

Americans deserve an investigation into an event that struck at the heart of our democracy.

This is just another sign of the Republican Party's continued entanglement with Donald Trump and opposition to the truth, especially when it comes to election-related matters. We need to stop this behavior in its tracks.

We need to know what happened on January 6th in order to prevent it from happening again. We need a bipartisan investigation of the Capitol insurrection. Sign on today to urge Mitch McConnell to reconsider his opposition to the bipartisan bill that would establish this commission.
