Keep going Oldham
While Step 3 of the Government's roadmap is in full swing we still need to make sure we're sticking to the rules. Please remember...
* Meet outside as much as possible
* If you do meet inside, make sure the space is well ventilated – open windows and doors
* Take the vaccine when you are offered it, and encourage others to as well
* Remember that some people are more vulnerable than others to being seriously ill from Covid
* Minimise how many people you’re in close contact with, and for how long
* Get tested twice a week
* Wash your hands and clean surfaces regularly to remove virus particles

Remember: Hands, Face, Space, Fresh Air.

Discretionary grants closing soon
Oldham Council’s discretionary business grant schemes will close on Friday 4 June at 5pm. Any businesses who have not yet applied, and think they could be eligible, are urged to submit an application before it is too late.
The schemes, funded through the Additional Restrictions Grant, were launched to support businesses not covered by other grant schemes and that have been severely impacted by local and national restrictions. Since we launched the schemes in November 2020, we’ve helped more than 500 businesses with grant payments of almost £6 million. We'll announce future schemes as soon as we can.
Find out more about the discretionary schemes due to close in our press release ([link removed]) .

EU Settlement Scheme... time is running out
Time is running out for EU citizens living in the UK who haven't applied to the EU Settlement Scheme. If you think you might be affected don’t assume the scheme doesn’t apply to you.
You might also know of someone else who the scheme might affect, a relative or friend. If so check here ([link removed]) before the 30 June deadline to be sure.
Help and support is available in various languages so check today while there’s still time.

Oldham's children benefit from funding
As in previous years, Oldham’s children and young people are set to benefit from another year of investment from the Opportunity Areas (OA) programme.
Since 2016, the programme has invested £90 million on improving school standards, attendance, teaching quality and recruitment, careers training and advice, literacy and maths skills, alongside tackling barriers to learning that exist beyond the school gates. Named and shamed for dumping waste
Fly-tipping and dumping waste is not on as it makes our borough look dirty. Our hardworking staff have to clear it up and council tax payers are left footing the bill. We’ll take action against those who we find blighting the borough – just like we have done in these latest court cases here ([link removed]) .
