CLCV Statement on Isaac Bryan’s Election to the State Assembly

Isaac Bryan’s victory is not only a win for his campaign but a win for all Californians. With California slipping into another drought and wildfire season just around the corner, our state needs leaders who will stand up for our communities and lead the charge for bold action centered on racial, climate, and environmental justice. We know Assemblymember-elect Bryan is up to the task, and we look forward to working with him in this fight for a climate just future.

California Wildfires: How Can We Control the Burn?

The devastating wildfires that have been desecrating our lands do not share a biological bond to California’s natural history. The phrase “fight fire with fire” can be off putting without context, but the “good fire” that Native American tribes once traditionally performed could be the answer. Controlled burns are an integral part of keeping local ecosystems thriving and healthy.

We believe that transformational change is necessary and only by transforming our political system will we create the opportunity to take bold action on climate change. We elect and cultivate environmental champions, turn election victories into policy wins, hold our lawmakers accountable, and build political power for change. We inspire hope and action and fight for equity and justice for all Californians. We are in the business of changing what’s possible.
