As members of Congress were working to faithfully carry out our constitutional duty to certify the election on January 6th, we witnessed a disgraceful, violent attack on the U.S. Capitol. And this move was incited by high-level leaders in an attempt to subvert our democracy and overturn the will of the people.

Folks, we know the truth. This was not a peaceful protest. It was a violent right-wing insurrection fueled by Trump’s Big Lie.

There is no question in my mind that this attack should be investigated to the fullest extent and those responsible should be held accountable for their actions so we can prevent something like this from ever happening again.

But it’s clear to me that Mitch McConnell and the majority of Republicans are only interested in saving themselves. Republicans in the Senate just voted against a bipartisan commission to investigate the attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6th.

I’m appalled by the members of the Republican party who chose to absolve all responsibility for their actions and put their party over the people they were elected to serve.

There has never been a more critical time to keep Mitch McConnell from reclaiming the majority. Please chip in toward our end-of-month fundraising deadline to help us protect and expand our Senate majority.
