Good afternoon friend,
I wrote to you at the start of the month saying we needed 300 new members to achieve our plans. We’ve absolutely smashed this goal - more than 421 dedicated supporters have shown their commitment to the campaign and taken the opportunity to support our plans to change the law.
According to our records, you haven’t signed up to be a member yet. In the last two weeks, we’ve had news that has meant we’ve had to increase our target for new members. For the first time since 2015, there is a new Assisted Dying Bill in the House of Lords that will be debated towards the end of this year.
Will you help us change the law?
By committing a fixed amount to Dignity in Dying a month, you’ll be adding strength where it’s needed most and bringing the UK closer than ever to an assisted dying law.
Since the beginning of this month, our members have already achieved brilliant things. Last week The Sunday Times publicly came out in support of assisted dying and announced they will be campaigning for law change.
Together we're stepping up our game in Parliament, with our powerful behind the scenes lobbying and supporters like you reaching more MPs than ever before. Will you take action now to make sure that we can make the most of this new opportunity for law change?
You have the power to change lives - and deaths - for the better. Before she died, our fantastic campaigner Sandy Briden told us that, for her,
“assisted dying isn't about dying, it's about living."
With enough members joining our ranks, we can make sure dying people are able to focus on making the most of their remaining time, safe in the knowledge that when the time comes they have a choice about how and when they die.
I know it’s been a really hard year for so many of us and that not everyone will be able to donate. If that’s you, please know how grateful I am for everything that you already do for the campaign. But if you do think you can spare just £2 a month, we’d love to welcome you aboard.
Help us to continue to fight for dying people across the country who so desperately need this choice. Together, we can change the law.
Many thanks,
P.S. 421 committed supporters have already signed up to become members - will you join them today?
