John, Rahm Emanuel does not belong in the Biden administration
Sign on now to urge the Senate to reject Rahm!
John,
As mayor of Chicago, Rahm Emanuel tried to cover up the police shooting of Laquan McDonald in 2014. He made drastic cuts to public education. He did so much damage. As head of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and Obama’s Chief of Staff, Rahm championed Wall Street deregulation, opposed a public option for healthcare, and advocated for an anti-worker agenda.
Now, President Biden wants to make Rahm the U.S. Ambassador to Japan. That’s a bad decision, and the Senate must reject it. Rahm shouldn’t be in the administration at all, given his past, but there’s more:
"[Rahm] is a disaster in the making," says Jeff Kingston, head of Asian studies at Temple University's Tokyo campus. "He seems temperamentally unsuited to diplomacy and has all the prickly vindictive instincts reminiscent of The Donald." - Nikkei Asia, May 17, 2021
Rahm did so much damage to the country and Chicago throughout his career. Corporate media has allowed him to continue as a national figure on ABC as a political pundit. And now Pres. Biden wants to give him an important role to play on an international stage.
We need to let Senators know that we don’t want Rahm Emanuel in the Biden administration — or any administration! Add your name to our call for the Senate to reject Rahm.
In solidarity,
Justice Democrats
