Now more than ever, we need your help to ensure members of Congress are educated about the pressing dangers facing our ally Israel.

Friend of Israel,
Last Friday, President Biden made a

powerful statement :
"Until the region says unequivocally they acknowledge the right of Israel to exist as an independent Jewish state, there will be no peace."
The conflict with Hamas, and indeed the conflicts of the past 73 years, have been about this very point: Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state.

Watch Israeli Ambassador George Deek deliver this message straight to the leaders of Hamas: "You. Will. Not. Win."
Israel’s enemies have forced the Jewish state into too many wars in their dangerous quest to destroy Israel, but together, we help ensure they will never succeed.
Our role is to preserve and strengthen America's support for Israel, to help ensure Israel has the resources and support it needs to defend itself by itself, and to help advance Israel's pursuit of peace with its neighbors.
The past few weeks underscored that our work is as important as ever and that we have much to achieve in the months and years ahead to help keep Israel strong and secure.
Thank you for your tremendous leadership and activism during the recent conflict, and always.
This weekend, as we mark Memorial Day, AIPAC commemorates all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom and expresses our deepest gratitude to all Americans who have served our nation.
Below are more top news items from the week.

Abbas Again Chooses Conflict Over Peace

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas continued to demonstrate this week that he has no interest in making peace with Israel.
Abbas spent the week, once again, abusing international organizations, using the World Health Organization and the U.N. Human Rights Council to attack Israel.
On Wednesday, the U.N.'s World Health Organization (WHO)
[link removed]
passed a shameful anti-Israel resolution rather than using its time to address the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Why it matters: That the WHO would enable this outrageous ploy further exposes the toxic, anti-Israel rot in many U.N. bodies.
On Thursday, the U.N. Human Rights Council (UNHRC)
[link removed]
approved a one-sided, anti-Israel commission of inquiry targeting Israel's actions leading up to and during the latest Israel-Gaza conflict.
- Why it matters: This outrageous UNHRC resolution has one purpose: to demonize Israel by siding with terrorists over the terrorized. While Hamas used innocent Palestinians as human shields, Israel took unprecedented steps to avoid civilian casualties.
The big picture: The past two weeks underscored the need for a lasting peace. Yet Abbas continues to hold the Palestinians hostage to his schemes to attack Israel at the U.N. and International Criminal Court.
The way forward: World bodies must stop entertaining this dangerous strategy and demand Abbas returns to direct talks.
We thank the Biden administration for standing with Israel and opposing these attacks meant to demonize Israel.

IAEA Chief: Iran’s Uranium Enrichment Now at Levels of ‘Countries Making Bombs’

Iran is continuing to choose escalation over negotiation.
The latest: The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) warned that Iran is enriching uranium at purity levels that "only countries making bombs are reaching."
Why it matters: This action is allowed under the JCPOA in 10 years.
Meanwhile, America, Iran and other 2015 nuclear deal participants continued indirect talks in Vienna this week, the fifth round of indirect negotiations aimed at reviving the 2015 agreement.
The bottom line: The U.S. must permanently prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
-
America must make clear to Iran that it cannot achieve sanctions relief by threats and raising tensions.
-
Key flaws of the 2015 nuclear deal—including the sunset clauses—must be fixed.

Iran Bars Hundreds of Candidates from June Elections
[link removed]
Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei supported the disqualification of hundreds of candidates seeking to run in the Iranian presidential election in June.
Context: This week, Iran's Guardian Council—which vets candidates and reports directly to the Supreme Leader—approved only 7 candidates out of the 592 that registered to run.
Meanwhile, Khamenei has spoken on television calling on Iranians to participate in elections—a tactic used by the clerical regime to tout its legitimacy.
Between the lines: Iranian activists inside and outside the country are calling for a boycott of the elections.
