“Pass the Freedom to Move Act and provide critical funding for safe, high-quality, and fare-free public transportation and bus service to ensure everyone in the community can access jobs, education, food, and essential services.”

Friend,
Public transit is a lifeline connecting our residents to jobs, education, healthcare, food, and more.
And yet, as a country we have disinvested in public transit in recent decades, disproportionately impacting communities of color and rural communities.
Now, my sister in service, Rep. Ayanna Pressley has introduced the Freedom to Move Act, which would provide safe, high-quality, fare-free public transportation to ensure everyone can access jobs, food, and essential services.
Join me and our national coalition of partners in signing on in support of the Freedom to Move Act to make public transit equitable, sustainable, and affordable. Sign the petition today >>
Transit is a critical channel for racial equity with Black and brown communities accounting for approximately 60% of transit riders.1
What’s more, public transit cools the planet with one public bus reducing the carbon of 40 cars.2
For too long, Congress’ funding for public transit has been based on an unsustainable premise that operations should be self-funded by local taxes, fares, and fees. This has created a situation where public transit is treated more like a for-profit business than an essential public good.
Sign the petition today in support of Rep. Ayanna Pressley’s Freedom to Move Act to make public transit equitable, sustainable, and affordable.
Every dollar invested in transit is an investment in jobs, our communities, and our future.
Always serving you,
Rashida
