Memorial Day is sacred to us: a beautiful and solemn time to honor those who have fought for the freedoms we enjoy. As Members of Congress and Americans, we will always mourn the loss of the people who died for our country and all who served.

We remember the immortal words of President Lincoln, spoken at his second Inaugural Address: “Let us strive on to finish the work we are in to bind up the nation’s wounds, to care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow and his orphan: to do all which may achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace among ourselves and with all nations.”

On this solemn day of remembrance as America gets back on track from the pandemic, let us pay tribute to all of our selfless servicemembers and their families by building a future worthy of their sacrifice, with liberty and justice for all.
