The way forward is public transport

Hello

Last week we launched our biggest campaign for years, The way forward is public transport.

As we emerge from the Covid crisis, there's a danger that our roads could fill with ever more cars. Our campaign calls for a brighter transport future – one that is greener and fairer, that gives us cleaner air and leaves our environment in a better condition for future generations. Please add your name to join the campaign - we'd love to have you on board!

Join the campaign

We're already making our voices heard:

  • MPs and Peers from across the political spectrum came along to our campaign bus to talk about why the way forward is public transport
  • We put up ads at Westminster tube station to ensure that parliamentarians notice our campaign messages
  • Hundreds of people have already emailed their MPs about the campaign

And we've seen some success: at last, part-time commuters will be able to buy flexible rail season tickets. We'll be watching closely as more details emerge – it's vital that the tickets offer a decent discount.

Adventures by public transport

Public transport is great for an adventure! As the weather picks up (fingers crossed!) we've been thinking about day-trips and holidays by train, bus and coach.

It's great when we can enjoy a day out without clogging the countryside with traffic. But change is needed to support leisure travel, including fewer rail engineering works at weekends, more spaces for bikes on trains, and more Sunday bus services.

Nat from the brilliant Good Journey has written us this guest blog about how public transport can offer a greener, healthier future for leisure travel. As a bonus, Nat's blog includes top tips for beaches and outdoor pools reachable by public transport... now, where did we put our sunglasses?

If you've been dreaming of holidays and day-trips, we'd love to see your photos of past jaunts by public transport. These don’t need to be pictures of you actually on public transport – show us where you went to and what you did! Whether you caught the bus to Bridlington or the train to Spain, please share your photos and let's prove that real adventures don't need to involve flying.
