Welcome to Friday, May 28th, Geminis...
Texas lawmakers have passed a bill allowing handguns without a license.
Gov. Greg Abbott (R) is expected to soon sign the law that will allow Texans over the age of 21 who are legally allowed to possess a firearm to carry a handgun concealed or openly without obtaining a state permit.
The new âconstitutional carryâ or âpermitless carryâ law is sponsored by State Rep. Matt Schaefer (R), who offered the following statement on the Texas legislature reaching a conference agreement on his bill:
âBy working together, the House and Senate will send Gov. Abbott the strongest Second Amendment legislation in Texas history, and protect the right of law-abiding Texans as they exercise their God-given right to self-defense and the defense of their families.â
State Rep. Vicki Goodwin (D) spoke on the floor about the bill and said itâs âheartbreakingâ to think of âmore guns everywhere in Texas."
Should states adopt âpermitless carryâ or âconstitutional carryâ laws for handguns?
