Arboretum Sunsets announced - Tickets on sale today!

*Following last year's popular Arboretum Garden Bar and Bandstand events, the Arboretum Sunsets concert series will take place back at the pop-up venue this summer.

A variety of live music both free and ticketed, food and drink, comedy, and interactive events, all centred around the park’s iconic bandstand!*

The first events announced include concerts from music heroes *Tony Hadley* and *Richard Thompson*, an all-day folk event hosted by singer-songwriter *Beans On Toast*, the *Arboretum Beer Festival*, street food festivals from *Nottingham Diners Club*, and regular Sunday yoga & wellness sessions presented by *Sweaty Betty*.

The spacious outdoor location means that, even if social distancing measures are still in place, all events will be able to safely go ahead as scheduled.

Organisers have also confirmed the return of *Homegrown [ [link removed] ]*, the bank holiday all-dayer showcasing the best music the East Midlands has to offer.

Alongside the packed music schedule is the launch of *Arboretum Beer Festival*: an all-day extravaganza, featuring a huge array of local and national beers for craft drink aficionados. Sunsets will also be serving up an array of mouth-watering street food from *Nottingham Diners Club*; laugh-out loud live comedy sessions from *Just The Tonic*; music quizzes, bingo and much more!

*“Hello, My Name is Paul Smith” is a world-class exhibition at Nottingham Castle, which opens from 21 June*

Featuring over 1,500 objects from the personal archive  and magnificent mind of Paul Smith, the exhibition explores the company’s beginnings in Nottingham to its international reach today.

The exhibition runs until 20 February 2022 in the Temporary Exhibitions space at Nottingham Castle and is part of the 1,000 years of history and creativity are brought to life like never before after the £32m transformation project.

Alongside world-class art, Castle visitors can also experience mixed reality storytelling and interactive games in Robin Hood Adventures, and discover Nottingham’s most turbulent episodes in the Rebellion Gallery. Plus, let little outlaws explore the brand-new, adventure playground Hood’s Hideout or go on an underground adventure in the Castle caves.

Splendour - Full festival line-up announced

With just under 2 months to go, organisers are delighted to confirm a whole wave of new acts to play across the five stages, including pop superstar, former Spice Girl *Melanie C *and two-tone legends *The Selecter*.

They join already confirmed headliners *Richard Ashcroft* and *Supergrass*, as well as *The Vamps*, *Becky Hill* and *Sleeper*, making 2021’s line-up an eclectic mix of exciting new acts and established heavy hitters. 

Also performing will be* Heather Small *aka the voice of M People, recognised as one of the seminal voices of the 90s. The Nottingham based singer-songwriter *Jerub *takes to the Main Stage.

Other names on the Confetti stage include soulful, hope-filled pop and R’n’B act *BEKA,* indie-folk songstress *Alice Robbins,* and alternative pop artist *Blle *whose debut EP reached no.6 in the singer/songwriter iTunes charts.

See an eclectic mix of local artists on The Courtyard Stage including post-punk four-piece *Cucamaras* and soulful songwriter and producer *Saffron.*

With lots happening all over the park aside from the three music stages, including comedy in the courtyard, a kids' area and entertainers out and about in the crowd, the festival is a fantastic day out for all the family.

BBC TV: Songs of Praise

This week’s Songs of Praise was filmed at Newstead Abbey - The ancestral home of Lord Byron. I

t will be airing on Sunday at *13.15pm on BBC One* and will be available to watch online afterwards.

Presenter Aled Jones will explore the amazing history of the site.

Curator Simon Brown will also explain how the abbey began as an Augustinian priory and it is thought one of the priests was Friar Tuck, one of Robin Hood’s Merry Men.
