We’re marching 266 miles for climate justice.

Hey John,

My name is Maddy and I’m from California. Tomorrow, I’m joining my fellow Sunrisers to march 266 miles from Paradise all the way to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco to demand that Congress take action on the climate crisis.

Living in California, I’ve seen the effects of climate change my whole life. My community has faced devastating wildfire seasons every year for the past 3 years. That’s why I’m marching: Because I am eager for our politicians to take action and I am ready for the people in power to make the most of our current political environment.

But our march is just one part of the strategy, John. If we want Congress to pass the first part of the Green New Deal by the end of this year, we’re going to need support from every corner of our movement — and that starts with you.

Will you join us at one of our upcoming calls to get connected with Sunrise and learn how you can take action from home? Click here to learn more and sign up.

We worked tirelessly to put the climate crisis on the national agenda. We elected a Democratic president and Congress on a bold climate mandate. Now, the first piece of the Green New Deal — passing a Civilian Climate Corps — is within sight. But if we’ve learned anything from our time as young organizers, it's that those in power will not pass the policy we need unless we push them. So it’s time to act again.

Our communities and our families can’t wait another minute, John. Every year, Californians watch our state cycle through wildfires, mudslides, droughts, and floods as our coasts disappear and forests burn black.

That’s why I’m asking you to join me and my fellow marchers to take action now. Click here to sign up for our next action call TONIGHT at 7:30 pm ET.

We’ll need all hands on deck — marching, calling our elected officials, posting on social media, and talking to our friends — to win this fight.

In solidarity,
Maddy, Sunrise

P.S. Can’t make it to tonight’s call? We’ve got another one this Saturday at 2:00 pm ET. Click here to sign up now and get connected with our movement.
