As we get closer and closer to election season 2022, it's becoming clearer to all of us just how important our battles for the state legislature and the office of Secretary of State will be in protecting our democracy as we know it.  

The GQP began their crusade against our democracy in state houses across the country with lies and propaganda relating to the result of the elections. Then, they created the biggest sham of the century with the infamous Arizona audit. Now, they plan on litigating the election in Georgia too with a similar audit coming soon. 

The most dangerous part of their schemes for Georgia is Seditious Six member Jody Hice, the man they handpicked to replace Brad Raffensperger in the upcoming election, who is one of Donald Trump's biggest evangelists of The Big Lie in our state. Just this week he was caught lying again after sending a letter to Georgia conservatives affirming his stance that he would have overturned the election results in Georgia if he were Secretary of State. 

Team, simply put, if we cannot stop Jody Hice and the Republican majority in the state legislature, the GQP will overturn the next election if a Democrat wins in any of the key races on the ballot next year. This includes Governor, Lieutenant Governor, U.S. Senate and House races, and any state legislature or state government election result they don't like. They could even overturn the presidential election results in Georgia if the state is won by a Democratic candidate again. 

This is a battle for the heart and soul of our democracy. If we don't win now, we may never get close enough to win again. That should frighten us all. Here at the Georgia Blue Project, we are continuing to do our work behind the scenes to prepare for the strategic multimedia ad strategy that will be needed to increase turnout in the rural areas Democrats need most to win in 2022.
