Yesterday, the administration announced a dangerous policy reversal regarding our Kurdish allies in the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). Soon, it is expected that Turkish forces will attack the SDF who have been a critical ally of the United States in the fight against ISIS.

This is a misguided and dangerous change in America’s position. It sends a message to our allies that we may not stand with them in difficult times. It also immediately risks the escape of some 11,000 ISIS fighters currently being held by the SDF in the region.

FirstName, as a member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, it is my duty to stand up to the administration when they’re wrong. This decision destabilizes an already volatile region and makes it more difficult to confront threats like ISIS.

I will continue to be vocal and advocate for strong, smart foreign policy.
