Dear John,

As a supporter of our work you’re familiar with this harsh truth: if we are to avoid the most harmful impacts on climate change, we must move quickly to pass policies that will lower emissions and transition us to a clean energy economy. By passing the American Jobs Plan, a federal recovery package that centers climate ambition, jobs, and justice, we have the opportunity to do just that.

Join us at a Virtual Town Hall with Senator Ron Wyden on Friday, June 4th at 1:30pm to learn more about this transformational proposal that would put the US at the forefront of climate leadership.

At the Town Hall Senator Wyden will share how the American Jobs Plan will put millions of people to work by making major investments in infrastructure, while also speeding up our transition to clean energy. Creating family-wage paying jobs and prioritizing environmental justice are at the heart of this historic policy.

As chair of the Senate Finance Committee, Senator Wyden is also leading the way to a clean energy future with his Clean Energy for America Act. This Act would reform our tax code to remove fossil fuel subsidies and instead incentivize carbon free electricity, transportation, and efficient buildings.

RSVP for the Virtual Town Hall here; when you sign up you can submit a question. Those selected will get to ask their questions live at the town hall!

Despite how divided our country can sometimes feel, the truth is that the vast majority of people from both sides of the political aisle want to see the US take bold climate action. In the current political environment, the most likely way to pass the American Jobs Plan is through a process called “Budget Reconciliation,” which only requires a simple majority in the Senate to pass. In other words, we can actually do this.

Join Senator Wyden and me on June 4th to learn about the American Jobs Plan and how you can help make it a reality. I hope to see you there.

Sincerely,
Doug Moore
OLCV Executive Director
