And true community safety means feeling safe from violence by the state, which includes the police.

How The American Families Plan Helps Communities of Color

Our 2021 Communications Institute Fellow Josephine Kalipeni, deputy director of Family Values @ Work, participated in a live panel discussion about President Biden’s American Families Plan on “The Tammi Mac Late Show” last week. Josephine talked about the benefits that a national Paid Family and Medical Leave plan, as well as free universal preschool, could have for American families – particularly for communities of color.
