Liberatory Culture
In this Race + Power Weekly we look at a frame that we are increasingly using in our work—liberation. We feature two excerpts from “Policy for Liberation,” an Edge Leadership event hosted by Dr. Nicholas Harvey. The first continues a discussion with Dr. Dorothy Yancy that began last week ([link removed]) . The second starts a new conversation between Dr. Harvey and Dr. Robert M. Franklin, Jr., Professor in Moral Leadership at the Candler School of Theology of Emory University.
There’s also an article by Cyndi Suarez on the viral hit “Racist, Sexist Boy” that looks at the emergence of liberatory culture—entertainment suffused with visions of a better world. Finally, we have a link to another aspect of liberatory culture that explores outer space as a recurring theme in hip hop.
