WOBURN -- A single line in yesterday's Washington Post report outlining President Joe Biden's dismantling of the only federal agency tasked with tracking down deport criminal illegal aliens says it all:

"(President) Biden has placed ICE (Immigrations and Customs Enforcement) deportation officers on a leash so tight that some say their work is being functionally abolished."

The revelation comes days after Biden DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas abruptly ended the agreement between ICE and Bristol County Sheriff Thomas Hodgson, with whom it had partnered with successfully for decades.

Massachusetts Republican Party Chairman Jim Lyons said Wednesday illegal immigration enforcement statistics under Biden are "staggering."

"The border crisis is out-of-control, and the Biden administration's move at the behest of our all-Democrat Congressional delegation to shut down Bristol County's ICE program sends a message to human traffickers, to the drug cartels, and to MS-13: Massachusetts Democrats are ringing the dinner bell for you," Lyons said.

According to the report, ICE's 6,000-officer roster is average just a single arrest every two months. Meanwhile, deportations under Biden rank at the "lowest monthly level on record," an average of 1,500 individuals are illegally entering the United States unpursued per day, and illegal border crossings have skyrocketed to a 21-year high.

"The statistics prove what we already knew: the Democrats are playing with fire by putting politics above law and order," Lyons said. "They are determined to transform all of Massachusetts into a sanctuary state, and thanks to the Biden administration, they appear to be getting it done without having to cast a single vote on Beacon Hill."
