Grow your digital skills with us this July

Be creative; build on your digital skills and explore the exciting world of computing and digital making in these beginner-level workshops.

New to digital technologies? Not to worry. Callum, our techno expert, will guide you at each stage as you gain confidence learning how to code music, build a website or simply having fun exploring the technologies of the future.

*Our adult only workshops *can help you gain basic skills in creative digital technologies. Whether youre looking to change career, or just have an interest in the subject then these workshops are for you. We are particularly keen to engage adults who are out of work or with low skills.

*Our family learning workshops* will help you learn and discover together in awelcoming and relaxed environment.Grown-ups, dont get left behind, be part of your childs digital learning and become digitally savvy yourself!

These workshops are supported by Nottingham City Councils Family & Community Learning service, with funding from the Education & Skills Funding Agency. They are totally *FREE* to all adults and children aged 8+. Places are limited as workshops are kept small to maximise your experience.

*Learn to Code Music with Sonic Pi*

What is Sonic Pi you say? It is a code-based music creation tool and a great way to make music fromClassical toGrimeto Pop! This family friendly session goes over the basics of music programming language on Sonic Pis using Python. You'll have fun making music together and as Sonic Pi is free to download, why not carry on creating some tunes at home using your new found skills!

*Who is this workshop for*? Ideal for families and children aged 8+ who want to explore and make music together. You don't need any coding experience but should be comfortable using a computer and the internet.

*When does it take place:*

*Drop-in*for a family friendly exploration and taster sessions of digital technologies that can be used to program interactive stories, games, or animations. Try, make, explore and create using Raspberry Pi, Makey Makey, Micro:bit and Scratch. Want even more? Try our introductory coding sessions to make music or a video game.

*Who is this workshops for*? This is perfect for families and children aged 8+ who want to try out some new technologies in a relaxed, informal session.You only need basic knowledge of computers to attend.

*When does it take place:*

While it started as a blogging tool, it has evolved throughout the years into a high quality free website builder that anyone can use... with a bit of training! So why not join us for a practical hands-on session about building a websites for beginners.

*Who is this workshop for?* People wanting to start their own blog, business (established, start up or online business) and people with a general interest in how to create a website.

No coding experience is required but participants should be comfortable using computers and the web.

This is just the beginning! We are planning a whole calendar of digital learning that will include coding using Raspberry Pi's, Makey Makeys, Micro:bits, Scratch; building websites and other digital technologies.... coming in the Autumn.
