Happy Thursday,
Months ago, our hub's #bipoc Caucus discussed what things we wanted to see from this hub and in the DMV. Many things were discussed, unpacked, & created. One idea got us all moved and excited: Uprise DMV.
Uprise DMV is an unprecedented, BIPOC-organized, 4-hour virtual event consisting of panels and performances, bringing artists and activists together to tackle pressing generational issues and envision a way forward in the spirit of collective liberation. We want to bring people into the movement, to demystify organizing, and to come together in joyful spaces after a year of so much hardship.
We’re sending this note to invite you to join us THIS Saturday, May 29th, 2021, 4:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m for virtual panels, live and pre-recorded musical performances at the Pie Shop in Washington D.C. Now is your chance to be a part of a landmark event for the movement and culture within the DMV. The event schedule is packed with conversations between amazing organizers and artists & musicians from all across the DMV who know the issues, organize us, and keep us empowered.
We're hoping to get as many of us and our friends out there and online to support what we hope becomes a DMV tradition going forward. It's projects like these that liven up the revolution and bring joy back into the fights for collective liberation. So, please join us!GET YOUR TICKETS HERE, and share with 3 other friends! *Uprise DMV is following a pay-what-you-can model to ensure that the event is accessible to any and all. Any money received will be used to pay artists for their art and organizations/organizers for their daily work. So do what you can, and share with your friends! coworkers! your cool gay aunt! We just want people there; we want people engaged; we want people to find power and joy with us.
