Did you see the news last week? Roe v. Wade is once again under attack by Kavanaugh and his activist conservative allies. If we lose, it means that the latest round of heartbeat bills will be able to go in effect across the country with no federal protection.

This situation is even more dangerous here in Georgia. In 2016, the pregnancy-related maternal mortality ratio in Georgia was 40.8 per 100,000 live births. The maternal death rate for white women in Georgia is more than twice that for white women nationally. The maternal death rate for black women in Georgia is even more dire – it is twice that of white women in Georgia and 6 times the rate for white women nationally. Abortion bans will turn this maternal mortality crisis into a catastrophe.

On behalf of the women of Georgia I refuse to sit on the sidelines. I am fighting to protect Roe v. Wade, repeal the Hyde Amendment, and pass legislation requiring abortion coverage be included in all public and private health insurance plans. But I need your help.
